Distillery: Undisclosed (Likely Bushmills)
Proof: 80
Age: NAS (~ 4 Years)
Mashbill: 100% Malted Barley
BACKGROUND: The Sexton was a new Irish whisky released in 2018. The Sexton is a triple distilled whiskey made with 100% malted barley in copper pot stills. The distillery is not explicitly stated on the label but it was most likely distilled by Bushmills based on the label which refers to the distillation as having occurred in Northern Ireland’s County Antrim and Bushmills is the only distillery in that county. Also, the fact that it is a triple distilled 100% malted barley Irish whiskey is another giveaway that this comes from Bushmills. The Sexton comes in a cool looking, black and plop bottle with skeletons around the logo. The skeletons come from the word sexton which is an officer of a church, congregation or synagogue charged with the maintenance of its buildings and/or the surrounding graveyard. In addition, sextons were often charged with the digging of graves. The Sexton was aged in Spanish sherry wine oak casks.
NOSE: Malt notes lead this one off but there are some wonderfully sweet notes of soft fruit like apple and tangerine, very light cacao, light oak notes, and some copper tang. Overall, this is a delicate and light nose that is sweet and pleasing. (22/25)
PALATE: Like the nose, the palate is light and delicate. It again starts with a light maltiness that is accompanied by light fruit, soft floral notes (think chamomile), very light vanilla, and some metallic/copper notes. Overall this is a very smooth and easy sipping whiskey at 80 proof while maintaining flavor and delicacy. (30/40)
FINISH: The finish is medium in length and has a watery feel to it but consists of light sherry, young oak, and malt flavors. Again, the finish is delicate and smooth. (21/25)
VALUE: With a $25 SRP The Sexton is hard to beat! It is full of flavor while remaining delicate and smooth. (10/10)
Overall: 83/100
FINAL THOUGHTS: The Sexton is a very flavorful and amazingly priced Irish whiskey. The whiskey is overall delicate, easy to drink, and flavorful. I highly encourage everyone grab a bottle of this if you see it no matter what type of whiskey you like!

Very nice review to read as I am currently sipping on a glass of The Sexton during March of 2022 in honor of the Irish. I like your book selections in the picture too!
