BACKGROUND: In late 2021, Grain & Barrel Spirits, a South Carolina based spirits company, announced that they would be launched a new whiskey brand to pay homage to the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. They would be launching this Tennessee Whiskey and a straight Rye whiskey. This whiskey is named after the man himself, Elvis, who was known also as Tiger Man. According to Grain & Barrel, the whiskey is sourced, “blended by an expert team of whiskey experts and bottled in Tennessee, where Elvis began his career and called home.”
NOSE: The nose is extremely light with very feint scents of vanilla, some very light clove, and some banana bread. Admittedly it very hard to pull notes off of this one (18/25)
PALATE: Like the nose, the palate it extremely light with some notes of sweet vanilla, honey, a touch of oak and more of the light banana. It is almost watery and goes down without much feel to it (28/40)
FINISH: The finish is the best part with notes of butterscotch, warm honey, vanilla, and oak sugars. It was still on the lighter side but had more flavor (19/25)
VALUE: Unfortunately with a $50 SRP this one is tough to justify (5/10)
Overall: 70/100
FINAL THOUGHTS: Elvis Tiger Man Whiskey was a somewhat disappointing whiskey with an extremely light flavor profile that is most attributable to the lower proof. Elvis Tiger Man makes a cool addition to the bar cart and for that special Elvis Presley fan in your life. We recommend this to anyone who likes sweet, light, and easy sipping whiskey or for those new to whiskey.
