The Thomas S Moore 2021 Port Cask release honors Barton’s founder, who opened the distillery in 1889. The Port Finished Cask is said to have an extended finish, coming in with a proof point of 98.9 and no statement on the age or mashbill. Over the last few years Port finished whiskeys have become quite popular with brands like Jerrerson’s Reserve and Angel’s Envy being the most popular. Barton’s has said their version of the port finished whiskey has all of the port flavors, but made sure that they do not overpower the traditional whiskey flavors that customers are accustomed to.

Distillery: Barton 1972 Distillery
Proof: 95.3
Age: NAS
MashBill: Undisclosed
SRP: $70
The second wine finished release coming out of the Barton Distillery is the Thomas S. Moore Cabernet Sauvignon finish. Unlike the port finished bottles, the cabernet sauvignon finish is much less popular with the only notable releases being Jefferson’s Reserve. We think this will change in time being that bourbon finished cabernet sauvignon bottles are so popular on the shelves. We are very excited to get our hands on this & will be posting a review as soon as we get the chance.
