Traverse City Whiskey Company is a distillery located in Traverse City, Michigan, the Cherry Capital of the World, named aptly after their city. They were founded by Traverse City locals Chris Fredrickson and his partners, Jared Rapp and Moti Goldring after finding out Chris's great-grandfather had some whiskey distilling patents from the 1920s. Traverse City Whiskey Co opened their doors in 2015 in a former power station. They are very passionate about distilling and producing delicious whiskey while maintaining integrity to their history throughout the process.
Traverse City Whiskey Co had originally been selling and distributing whiskey solely sourced from MGP in Indiana. However, they have continued to increase their own whiskey production and are now blending their in-house distillate and their contract produced whiskey from MGP and others. Traverse City has five (5) different whiskies: North Coast Rye, Straight Bourbon, and Barrel Proof Bourbon which are all the blend of MGP juice and Traverse City juice; they also produce an American Cherry (Bottle Proof) and Port Barrel Finish whiskey that is made up entirely of Traverse City Whiskey. Last year, they released a Barrel Proof version of their American Cherry whiskey that will be released annually. Traverse City is also rolling out a new Michigan Apple Whiskey in the coming weeks using northern Michigan Apples.
